Volunteer Policy and ProceduresBy checking the box below, I agree that as a JOURNEYS volunteer, I will adhere to the policies and procedures of the agency and respect the civil rights, dignity, and confidentiality of all JOURNEYS clients and volunteers. I understand that failure to do so may result in the immediate termination of my volunteer role. I agree to hold JOURNEYS harmless for any liability from any incident that may occur during my volunteer experience with JOURNEYS. I agree that at times I may be photographed, and these photos may be used by JOURNEYS to educate, perform outreach to the community, and fundraise.
Volunteer Background Check PolicyThe purpose of this background check is to ensure the safety of the clients, volunteers and staff at JOURNEYS | The Road Home. All volunteers of JOURNEYS | The Road Home are required to participate in this screening process.Volunteers will be screened using the Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW), https://www.nsopw.gov/, which is managed by the Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) as authorized by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. NSOPW is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Justice and state, territorial and tribal governments. NSOPW is a public resource that searches the public sex offender registries from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the five principal U.S. territories and federally recognized Indian tribes.All volunteers who are at least 18 years of age or older will be screened after attending a JOURNEYS’ volunteer orientation.If the volunteer is not cleared through the screening process, they will not be eligible to volunteer with JOURNEYS | The Road Home in any capacity, including at any and all PADS locations. If the volunteer is not eligible, they will be told so by a JOURNEYS’ employee. If the volunteer is not cleared through the screening process, but they believe the screening information to be incorrect, they may visit https://www.nsopw.gov/ to contact the NSOPW directly.Once the volunteer is cleared, their information will be sent to their indicated sites to be scheduled for site specific training.By checking the box below, I agree to a background check. I understand that me volunteering with JOURNEYS | The Road Home is dependent upon the results of the background check. I agree to be screened using the Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website (https://www.nsopw.gov/). I understand that if this process is not agreed to, or if I am not cleared through the process, the offer of volunteering will be rescinded.
